1.    The hydraulic hammer chisel rod can’t work continuously for more than 30 seconds at a certain point.

The hydraulic hammer will generate huge energy when it breaks the rock through the Chisel. There will be two situations here:

The first one, if the rock hardness is proper right for the hammer, and the rock will be broken timely, the hitting energy will be released. This is normal work result for hydraulic hammer.

The second one, If the rock has very high hardness and it is still not broken after multiple blows, the energy cannot be released in time, and it will be  converted into huge thermal energy which will cause the chisel to decarburize and soften because this energy will make the tip temperature of the drill rod  reach above 400 ℃.

So if the hydraulic hammer breaks on very hard rock, the driver should pay much attention to the right operation: The chisel rod can’t work continuously for more than 30 seconds at a certain point. If the driver keeps the hammer rod hitting the same point continuously for more than 30 seconds without any breaking results, the driver should find a new position to start new breaking work.

Of course, to keep cold water in the workplace to cool hot rods at any time can also effectively avoid similar problems.

2.    Do not break the air

When the hydraulic hammer is hitting the air, the piston will transmit the impact force to the chisel, because at this time the chisel is suspended in the air, there is no real point for it to release the huge power, it can just transmit the power to the chisel rod pin, the chisel rod pin will be broken easily when it faces such strong impact force.

Meanwhile the stop pin will also bear this huge hitting power which will make the stop pin stick its inner hole and crack the front head.

Breaking the air often will make great damage to front head, rod pin, bolts, chisel and oil leaking from the hoses. Sometimes may be great damage to the excavator big arm and the excavator cylinder.

The right operation is to start to work after pressing out, the best strike angle is 85-95 degrees.

3.    How to check if a hydraulic breaker is suitable for your excavator or not?

Hydraulic breaker is a commonly used excavator attachment.  When you decide to buy a hydraulic breaker for your digger, you should provide relevant excavator bucket data which includes:

A. Pin diameter. The diameter of the hydraulic breaker pin should be the same as the diameter of your excavator digging bucket pin.

B. Center distance. The hydraulic breaker center distance should be close to the excavator digging buckets center distance, usually no more than 50mm difference.

C. Dipper width. This hydraulic breaker dipper width should be the same with or little bigger than your excavator digging bucket dipper width, otherwise the hydraulic breaker may not be installed successfully.
